الحمد لله رب العالمين، والصلاة والسلام على أشرف الأنبياء والمرسلين سيدنا محمد، وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين، أما بعد

1. Yes. In general, the guidance of Islamic teachings is important in managing coastal erosion.  More than that, Islam also advocates for the preservation and conservation of the environment. Allah SWT says in Surah al-Qasas, verse 77:

وَلَا تَبْغِ الْفَسَادَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
Meaning: "And do not commit corruption on the earth; indeed, Allah does not like those who cause corruption."

2. Allah SWT says in Surah al-Rum, verse 41:

ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Meaning: "Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by what the hands of people have earned, so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness]."

The Maqasid al-Shariah fundamentally aims to cultivate the earth and safeguard the system of life, continuing to preserve it. Thus, Surah al-Rum, verse 41 is closely related to the Maqasid al-Shariah in maintaining environmental harmony.

3. In general, the factors of soil erosion or cliff erosion are numerous. It could be due to natural phenomena or human activities. Natural phenomena include strong waves, rising sea levels, and natural disasters like storms or tsunamis. Human activities like sand mining, coastal construction, deforestation, and pollution disrupt the natural balance, making the coast more vulnerable to erosion.

Based on Surah al-Rum, verse 41 mentioned earlier, one of the factors of cliff erosion is the destruction caused by humans.

4. Raise an awareness among the community that taking care of the environment is one part of the obedience to God.
